Birth + Beyond Prenatal Workshop!

Hormonal Changes
Prenatal stress activates the body's stress response, releasing stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. While these hormones are essential for short-term stress responses, chronic exposure can be harmful.

Immune System Impact
Prolonged stress can affect the immune system, potentially increasing the risk of infections or other health issues for the expectant mother.

Neurological Development For Baby
Your developing baby is sensitive to the hormonal changes associated with maternal stress. Prenatal stress may influence the development of the infant brain and nervous system.
✅ Better hormonal regulation
✅ Improved blood pressure and breathing regulation
✅ Stronger immune response
✅ Improved emotional regulation and stress response
✅ Better sleep and improved energy levels
✅ Optimal development and positioning for your growing baby

Chelsea came to Petersburg Family Chiropractic during her second pregnancy with hopes many moms share—reducing leg pain, staying active, having more energy to play with her daughter, and supporting a healthy pregnancy, birth, and baby.
“I came to PFC during my second pregnancy and my goals were to eliminate pain in my leg, be able to exercise during pregnancy, and play with my daughter with more energy and without pain. I also wanted to have a healthy pregnancy, birth, and baby.
Since starting care, I have been able to go for walks with minimal to no pain or discomfort and have more energy. I have more flexibility and mobility, and I can play with our daughter much easier. My overall digestion health has improved, and I was in a better mood through pregnancy with more mobility.
Labor and delivery went great, and we are now a proud family of a baby boy. I am very pleased with Dr. Mike and the care he has provided for me. Everyone in the office is always so friendly and inviting.”

Melissa came to Petersburg Family Chiropractic during her second pregnancy with a clear concern. In her first pregnancy, flare-ups from a previous back injury began around 32 weeks—and she wanted a different experience this time.
“This was my second pregnancy, and I struggle with flare-ups of a previous back injury. With my first pregnancy, it started at 32 weeks and I was miserable.”
As care continued, Melissa noticed meaningful changes throughout her pregnancy.
“I didn’t experience back pain until the last three weeks of my pregnancy this time around. I had much better sleep, less insomnia, and improved blood pressure readings toward the end of my pregnancy. I think my appetite was better because baby was in a better position the whole pregnancy, so I was taking better care of my body.”
Melissa shared that while she hadn’t tried many other options during pregnancy, she had seen chiropractic care help at the end of her previous pregnancy—which is why she chose to start earlier this time. Outside of care, rest, baths, heat, and ice were the only things that provided relief.
When reviewing her neurological scans, she was surprised by the progress.
“They were fascinating, and I was impressed by how much improvement I made despite still being so pregnant.”
For Melissa, one moment stood out clearly.
“When my back pain didn’t come at 32 weeks—that’s when I realized chiropractic care was working.”
Today, Melissa continues with weekly care postpartum, and chiropractic has become part of her family’s routine.
“I’ve started both my 16-month-old daughter and my newborn son with chiropractic care as well. My fiancé was already going before I started, so it’s become a great little family outing.”

This mom chose chiropractic care as part of how she wanted to support her body during pregnancy—and later, her newborn’s transition into the world.
“I wanted to feel the best I could while I was pregnant. That included pregnancy-safe workouts, good nutrition, and my chiropractic care. I was thankful to never have many aches and pains while being pregnant, and I feel I owe a lot of that to my regular chiropractor appointments.”
After her baby was born, she shared that understanding what babies experience during birth helped guide her next steps.
“When I had my baby, Dr. Mike did such a good job explaining the benefits of getting your newborn adjusted after what they go through to come into the world that I knew it was a no-brainer to get him adjusted as soon as I could.”
Throughout her pregnancy, she noticed very little discomfort and appreciated the simplicity of her care routine.
“I honestly never tried anything besides some light, irregular stretching before coming in. I chose Petersburg Family Chiropractic because I knew I wanted to start a family and loved the idea of us all being able to go to one place.”
Seeing neurological scans gave her a new perspective.
“It’s so interesting to see your scans. I never realized how much the spine can control in your body, and it’s cool to watch those scans improve over time.”
For her, consistency made a difference.
“I originally started coming in after a bad fall that caused intense lower back pain. Since keeping up with regular appointments, I’ve noticed a massive difference in my back pain.”
Today, chiropractic care continues to be part of her family’s routine.
“I still come in regularly, and I feel like it helps my mental clarity and overall well-being. I can tell when I’m due for an appointment. My son has been adjusted since he was born—he’s been sleeping through the night since he was seven months old and rarely gets sick.”

Ashley’s family came to Petersburg Family Chiropractic with a few different concerns, each affecting daily life in its own way.
“One kiddo had leg pain, a couple are hyperactive—ADHD runs in our family—and our younger two started chiropractic care when they were babies, which helped lessen acid reflux. Our oldest had a horrible experience with acid reflux.”
Before finding chiropractic care, Ashley shared that trying to manage these challenges could feel discouraging at times.
“Prior to chiropractic care, it was frustrating.”
When it came to reflux concerns, medication had been part of their earlier experience—but it didn’t feel like the right long-term answer for their family.
“In regard to acid reflux, medicine was prescribed, and we didn’t feel that helped as much. We really wish we would have known about chiropractic care when our oldest was a baby. Our younger two really thrived without needing any medicine and did really well nursing.”
Ashley also appreciated how care was delivered in a way that respected each child’s comfort and personality.
“We really appreciated the gentle adjustments when the kiddos were babies, as well as now when they may not sit as still. Meeting our kids at their level—whether that’s in mom’s arms, playing with toys, or sitting and eating a snack—was important to us.”
Seeing their children’s neurological scans brought reassurance.
“We were very pleased to see that continued chiropractic care pays off and happy to see the kiddos with a healthy nervous system.”
Over time, Ashley noticed meaningful changes.
“Leg pain for a couple of our kiddos lessened, adjustments during ear pain helped, and there have been no acid reflux issues.”
Today, she describes her family simply.
“Overall healthy, thriving kiddos.”
